Well, to tell you the truth, i was pretty shagged and tired after my two weeks on the road/tour/race and Hostel living!!
Anyway – not wanting to get too much rest, Andrew decided a walk in the North Shore Mountains would be a nice way to spend a grey Saturday Arvo – Arran, another kiwi friend also came along – Cue the “Grouse Mountain” -
Grouse is a skifield/peak on the North Shore/North Van – really popular with tourists, and the ‘fashionable hiking types’ – a mix between BP’s in the latest gym gears, to the older retired types huffing it up – the Grouse Grind ™!
We didn’t actually go up the Grind track, but took a less common route called the BCMC (British columbia mountain club) – pretty much a good grade all the way up, and some wicked trees, classic North Shore scenery!…. oh, it was drizzling/raining that day, so a good test of the shoe/jacket/fitness!

So – it was pretty cloudy and cold at the top of the gondola – the usual touristy shop, cinema, and cafe/restuarant – There is a BEAR enclosure at the peak, but we didn’t see the bears.. damn. i’m still holding out to see them!!! I’ll have to head back up there on a NICE day and get some wicked panoramic pics looking back at the Vancouver Skyline and beyond!…..Oh yeah, there are heaps of these big wood carvings up there too.. can u spot me in this one?

Apart from contacting some more engineering companies, watching Transformers the Movie, surfing Facebook and doing some more riding around Fromme, it has been a pretty quiet 5 days – nice.
I got a new Hope Pro2 150mm rear hub put on my demo, but the bushings are still to be done. $$$$…. ! Mostly ready to hit up whistler now!
I went for a quick ride on the west side of North Van to check out the sights – Some pics for the engineers to drool over, and some nice scenery at Ambleside Park.

CPR (Canadian Pacific Rail) – on a steel trussed bridge. Load testing!

The old, and only 3 lane, Lions Gate Bridge….! Links Stanley Park to the City of North Vancouver.

Ambleside Park/beach/water front.
Well- yeah, a bit boring, some might even say a bit of an anti-climax to this section of my blog!…… don’t worry, Whistler Bike Park is calling……. www.whistlerbike.com =)
